Used Vauxhall Mokka X 2016-2019 reliability
Category: Small SUV
The Vauxhall Mokka X is stylish and well equipped, but its rivals have it beaten in a number of key areas
What should I look for in a used Vauxhall Mokka X hatchback?
Most Mokka Xs will have been used in tight car parks and around town, so check the front and rear ends carefully for any scuffs or dents and the alloy wheels (where applicable) for any kerb damage. Make sure the interior is clean and check the operation of the seats.
Diesel Mokka Xs are fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that will need regular long motorway blasts in order to keep it operating properly.
What are the most common problems with a used Vauxhall Mokka X hatchback?
Front seat side airbags
The side airbags in the front seats of examples made between 25 August 2016 and 1 December 2016 might not deploy correctly in a collision. Contact your local Vauxhall dealer for further information, because the airbags will need to be replaced if your car is affected.
Lights on rear bike carrier
There was an issue with the lights in the optional integrated rear bike carrier failing if the whole assembly wasn't folded away correctly. This applies to vehicles built before November 2016; they will need to have an additional sticker applied to the mechanism, explaining to the operator how to do this correctly.
Is a used Vauxhall Mokka X hatchback reliable?
The Mokka X managed a fairly average score in the most recent What Car? Reliability Survey, finishing in 12th place in the small SUV class out of 18 contenders. Vauxhall as a brand finished a disappointing 27th out of 31 manufacturers.
