What should I look for in a used Toyota BZ4X hatchback?
When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.
You get plenty of safety tech whichever trim you go for, including automatic emergency braking (AEB) and lane-keeping assistance, with blind-spot monitoring fitted from Motion trim. A Euro NCAP safety appraisal resulted in a five out of five safety rating for the bZ4X.
What are the most common problems with a used Toyota BZ4X hatchback?
As of writing, the bZ4X has a couple of recalls to its name: one is a programming issue that might stop warning messages from being shown, while the other can cause the car's emergency call function to become unavailable. The former applies to 2289 cars built in 2021, 2022 and 2023, while the latter applies to 27,327 vehicles built in 2023 alone.

Is a used Toyota BZ4X hatchback reliable?
The bZ4X had too few respondents to feature in our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey. As a car brand, though, Toyota consistently ranks towards the top. In the 2023 survey, it placed second out of 32 manufacturers, only losing the top spot to Lexus – a brand whose parent company is Toyota. Rival manufacturers like Ford, Kia, VW and more all proved less reliable.
