Used Porsche 718 Boxster 2016-present reliability
Category: Sports car
The 718 Boxster is a phenomenally good sports car, and makes for a great used buy, too.
What should I look for in a used Porsche Boxster sports?
This is a very sporty car and will therefore have been used enthusiastically from time to time. Check the bodywork carefully for any signs of damage. Look at the alloy wheels closely for kerb damage, as repairs will be costly. Also check the operation and condition of the folding hood.
Engines and gearboxes are generally reliable, although earlier cars had problems with the dual-clutch transmission, and owners complained about the quality of the paintwork.
Our latest What Car? Reliability Survey shines an overtly negative light on the model, though. The 718 Boxster (and its 718 Cayman sibling) ranked last out of 15 cars in the coupés, convertibles and sports car category, not to mention it did so with a concerning reliability rating of just 77.9%.
As a brand, Porsche ranked 19th out of 32 manufacturers – that isn't particularly great either.
