The Polestar 4 is stylish, spacious and swift, although we'd actually recommend going for the sweeter-steering single-motor car over the faster but more strait-laced dual-motor model. The lack of a conventional rear-view mirror has visibility drawbacks and won’t be to everyone’s taste, though.

This entry-level Single Motor version get lots of kit as standard. That includes electrically adjustable heated front seats, wireless phone-charging, a 360-degree camera, power reclining rear seats, a Harman Kardon sound system and a power-operated tailgate with foot sensor.

The entry-level version gets one electric motor driving the rear wheels and covers the 0-62mph sprint in a swift 7.1sec. It’s a lot slower than the Dual Motor version but still quick enough, and is better to drive. It’s our pick of the range.
