What should I look for in a used Nissan Navara pick-up?
The high sidewalls of the tyres used on the Navara mean its alloy wheels should remain unscathed from kerb damage, but jagged rocks that you might encounter while driving off road can cut into the rubber. These cuts might look innocent, but they increase the risk of a blowout at high speeds.
Four-wheel drive pick-up trucks are designed to handle hardcore off-roading, but you should still check underneath for signs of damage from such activities. Also, make sure any thick mud has been washed off the chassis, otherwise it can trap moisture and cause corrosion.
If you plan to do some more serious off-roading with your Navara, you’ll need to look for an example that has a lockable rear differential fitted. It wasn’t standard on any model and had to be specified as an optional extra when new.
What are the most common problems with a used Nissan Navara pick-up?
High mounted stop lamp
If your Navara has a removable hard top over the rear bed, it may have a potential issue with the high-mounted stop lamp not illuminating at the same time as the rear tail lights of the vehicle. Affected vehicles will need modified wiring fitted to solve the issue. If your vehicle has a hard top, contact your local Nissan dealer for further information.
Is a used Nissan Navara pick-up reliable?
