New Honda e:Ny1 vs used Volvo XC40 Recharge verdict
For the eco-conscious family, an electric SUV can be an enticing prospect, but should they splash out on a new e:Ny1 or go for a used, similarly priced XC40 Recharge?...
Our verdict
The Honda e:Ny1 is a much more convincing effort than the Honda E, with well-judged driving manners and a generous kit list. However, its range is well adrift of what the best of its new rivals can deliver, and its interior quality doesn’t befit its price.
Price is also a problem with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, particularly if you’re buying on PCP finance. But it’s strong in the other areas where its rival struggles, and generally it feels every bit the well-rounded, premium product. We’d therefore go for the used option here – preferably with the latest battery for even more range.
