What should I look for in a used Mercedes CLS coupe?
When looking at a Mercedes CLS, pay close attention to the specification. We recommend finding a car fitted with air suspension because it offers great body control when tackling a challenging section of road, while also being able to provide a comfortable ride when you are cruising. It is especially important if your car is fitted with the 19in, five-spoke AMG wheels. A good compromise is the smaller 18in wheels with comfort suspension.
Some owners have mentioned issues with the infotainment, such as difficulty in pairing a newer phone to an older system. When you are on your test drive, make sure that you can connect your phone with the car.
What are the most common problems with a used Mercedes CLS coupe?
Fortunately, the Mercedes CLS doesn’t suffer from that many common problems, and owners are generally very pleased with their cars. There was a recall for the 250 CDI to replace the injectors and, more recently, a voluntary recall to apply altered software to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions on diesel cars; it’s worth checking that these recalls have been carried out.
Is a used Mercedes CLS coupe reliable?
On the whole, the CLS is reliable. Some owners have mentioned electrical gremlins with the infotainment system, but for the most part, they have praised the reliability of the car and the quality of its interior. It hasn't featured in any of our most recent reliability surveys.
Mercedes-Benz finished a disappointing 26th out of 32 manufacturers in our most recent reliability survey.
