What should I look for in a used Kia Optima PHEV saloon?
If you’re buying a Kia Optima PHEV through the official approved used dealer network, then make sure they’ve added the additional two years of cover to the car, which brings it back up to seven. Insist that the car comes with all the relevant charge cables and check that they’re in good condition.
Make sure the alloy wheels haven’t been heavily curbed and that there aren’t any serious dents or scratches in the paintwork. Check the interior for signs of wear too. It is tough but can show scuffs in some of the cheaper bits of plastic.
What are the most common problems with a used Kia Optima PHEV saloon?
There has been one recall that could affect any Optima PHEV built between 16 October 2015 and 11 September 2017. It relates to the voltage protection device in the high voltage hybrid system that may develop a fault, with the driver noticing a severe drop in power. Contact your local Kia dealer if you’d like to check if your car is affected.
Is a used Kia Optima PHEV saloon reliable?
Kia, as a brand, finished in a highly credible joint fourth place out of 31 car manufacturers, sharing the spotlight with Mitsubishi and Subaru – two companies known for making reliable cars. This is pretty good since Kia has a much larger and more diverse range than either of its fellow finalists and, therefore, it’s much more difficult to achieve the same level of dependability over a greater number of cars.
