Cars available now

The Ford Kuga offers tidy handling, a spacious interior and plenty of standard kit, but iffy interior quality and a relatively small boot keep it from beating the best family SUVs. The full-hybrid version – our recommended model – provides smooth performance and competitive running costs.

ST-Line is a mid-level trim, and includes 18in alloys, automatic climate control, a 360-degree surround view camera, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats and a power tailgate. It also offers sharper styling, sports seats and a stiffer suspension set-up.

The entry-level engine in the Kuga is a 148bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. It’s not as quick as the hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions, but it should provide plenty of performance if you want to keep buying costs down.
