If you ignore the name, the Ford Capri is a good electric car, with an impressive range from the 77kWh versions, comfortable ride and loads of standard features. Rivals including the Kia EV6 get an even bigger battery for less money, can travel further and are better to drive.

Entry-level Select is the version that we’d go for because it keeps the cost down and gives you loads of standard kit. Impressively, that list includes everything from heated massage seats to dual-zone air conditioning and adaptive cruise control.

Set to join the range later, the entry-level model gets a 53kWh battery and a 168bhp electric motor. With an official 0-62mph sprint of 8.7sec, it should be plenty fast enough, but we’re yet to give it a go. Arguably more importantly, it should manage up to 242 miles between charges.
