Cars available now

There are no nasty surprises with the Citroën C4 X - it's very much like the C4 hatchback but with a larger boot. That means it shares the lovely interior quality and generally comfortable ride, while proving good value too, offering a lot more interior space than a similarly priced VW Polo.

This mid-spec trim is the one that we’d go for. Not only does it add extra equipment, including built-in sat-nav, a rear-view camera and a head-up display, it also gives you access to our favourite PureTech 130 engine.

Our favourite engine produces 129bhp and drops the 0-62mph time to 10.3 seconds, while the top speed rises to 124mph. It comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
