Used Audi Q7 2006-2015 reliability
Category: Luxury SUV
A used Audi Q7 of this generation is going to be expensive to run, but it's plenty plush and very capable.
What should I look for in a used Audi Q7 4x4?
Generally, the Audi Q7 is proving to be reliable, with only one or two common issues. This huge SUV has a reputation for getting through a set of front tyres in under 7000 miles and in some cases as little as 5000 miles.
In most cases, the outside edges wear substantially faster than any other area. The exact cause isn't clear, and Audi has been known to contribute to the cost of replacement rubber on newer cars.
Keeping a close eye on tyre pressures appears to be a key factor in minimising wear, along with ensuring the tracking is checked on a regular basis.
Other small electrical and engine faults have cropped up, but nothing consistent. A recall was issued in 2007 to cover a fault with the electrically powered tailgate.
As is the case with any off-roader, no matter how soft, you should always check the underside of the car for any damage.
What are the most common problems with a used Audi Q7 4x4?
Recalls were relatively few given the Q7's long life. Recalls have been issued for the following though -
It has been identified that the power-operated tailgate may close abruptly and unexpectedly following opening using the power function.
On affected vehicles engine oil may in isolated instances enter the brake servo via the vacuum feed line. This may cause the brake servo diaphragm to rupture and loss of brake servo assistance.
Check with your local Audi dealer that all remedial work has been carried ot.
