The model
Read full Audi A3 reviewComfortable, enjoyable to drive and sufficiently spacious inside for most, the current Audi A3 Sportback has long been an impressive offering marred by an interior that felt somewhat lacklustre considering its premium billing. However, with a mid-life facelift that brought in a more generous array of standard features and a revised interior, the A3 better justifies its premium price tag.
The trim
See full equipmentSport has the same infotainment system, LED headlights and rear parking sensors as the Technik trim, but adds 17in alloy wheels, leather seats, dual-zone climate control and 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats.
The engine
See full engine specsThis plug-in hybrid combines a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack. The official all-electric range is impressive – 40 miles if you stick to 17in wheels, which are a no-cost option on S line trim. In the real world it'll be less than that, though. Still, in combination with CO2 emissions of just 25g/km it's in a very low company car tax bracket. Performance is strong too, with 0-62mph coming in 7.6sec.
