Used test: Jaguar F-Type vs Mercedes-Benz SL
Anyone shopping for stunning performance and wind-in-the-hair fun should consider the Jaguar F-Type and the Mercedes-Benz SL. But which one makes more sense as a used buy?...
Our Verdict
The Mercedes SL wins thanks to its Swiss Army Knife-like ability to adapt to almost any situation. It’s a great cruiser, with or without the roof down, and is still capable of putting a big smile on your face when the road gets twisty. It also costs less to buy and is considerably cheaper to own, and comes with more standard kit and is more practical.
The Jaguar F-Type is slightly faster and even more fun to drive on a winding road, but that doesn’t make up for its shortcomings in other key areas.
