Used test: Fiat 500 vs Skoda Citigo
The Fiat 500 is a firm city car favourite, but how does it stack up against the practical Skoda Citigo?...
Our Verdict
The Fiat 500 is a fine city car and is a breeze to park because of its compact size and ultra-light City Steering mode that increases the assistance of the power steering. On the downside, it isn’t as reliable as the Skoda Citigo and has a small boot. You do get a superior infotainment system, though, and it's the more attractive car to look at.
That said, the Citigo is the more capable if you need to put people in the back and its larger boot is very handy, too. You will have to put up with glacial performance, even if that does mean superior fuel economy. The infotainment system isn’t as good and the steering wheel can obscure some of the dials.
But, at the end of the day, these quibbles are not enough to prevent the Citigo from snatching victory from the 500, due in no small part to the Citigo's more comfortable ride and low purchase price. It’s a great all-round city car and that’s why we’d recommend it over the 500.
