Used test: BMW 4 Series Coupé vs Mercedes C-Class Coupé verdict
These classy coupés go for eye-catching prices, but which dazzles and impresses enough to be crowned the best used car buy – the 4 Series Coupé or the C-Class Coupé?...
Our verdict
The Mercedes C-Class Coupé will woo you with its classy design and good levels of kit then waft you along comfortably on its air suspension. You'll enjoy its neat handling and reasonable running costs, too. However, what you won't like as much are the reliability concerns, and its suave interior is not as solid as the one in the BMW 4 Series Coupé.
What's more, the cheaper 4 Series has more traction and is more engaging to drive. It also has roomy rear seats and a spacious boot, and we adore its easy-to-use infotainment system. Perhaps if the C-Class Coupé could match or beat the 4 Series on price – and if it had a more reassuring reliability record – it would be a very close call. As it stands, though, the 4 Series is our used luxury coupé of choice here.
