Used test: Audi SQ5 vs Mercedes-AMG GLC 43
If you want a fast and sporty SUV at a reduced price take a look at these two humdingers. But which one should you choose? We spill the beans...
What will they cost?Â
The SQ5 was the more expensive car when these two were new, to the tune of roughly £2000, but at this age it’ll actually cost you nearer £3000 more. Residual values are pretty strong for both, as you’ll gather, which bodes well for future running costs, although the Audi is the better performer of the two on that front.Â
Consider the total cost of ownership, though, and the GLC suddenly looks even less appealing: insurance, servicing and fuel will all cost you more in the Merc.
Forget the promise of 34mpg, too - in the real world, these turbocharged V6 SUVs are woefully inefficient. So, if the idea of squirting £2500 into the fuel tank every 12,000 miles makes you raise an eyebrow, you might want to consider a diesel, after all.
