Used test: Audi A8 vs Mercedes S-Class verdict
Buy either of these gadget-laden luxury saloons at four years old and you'll save yourself a fortune. But which one should you go for?...
Our verdict
During this test, the five-star Mercedes S-Class has not let us down. It's as good a luxury car as it has ever been, with a strong yet smooth engine, better agility than the A8, and a superior infotainment system. It has better residual values, too.
The A8 hasn't disappointed either. In fact, it has excelled, managing to feel even sturdier inside and quieter on the move than the S-Class. What's more, it has an even plusher ride and comes with more standard equipment from new. All those aspects are priorities in a luxury car, so we've crowned the Audi A8 our winner.
