4 February 2022 – Stop and ask me about electric cars
I’ve written before about how queues can form at the most popular electric car chargers, but while this may sound like a negative, the flipside is that it gives you a chance to chat with other owners, as I’ve been doing recently in my Skoda Enyaq.
I met a lady at Beaconsfield services, for example, who was waiting to charge her Kia e-Niro. She’d bought it on a recommendation from What Car?, and while she’d only previously used it for local journeys, the fact that her ‘main’ car was in for repairs meant it had become her sole source of transport. And, she reported, it was brilliant.
Similarly, a young couple who asked me about my Enyaq while I was figuring out a charging point in London were treated to a full walkaround tour of the car – whether they wanted one or not.
The point is, as I've been driving this car, I feel I’ve become something of an ambassador for electric car technology. And, who knows, perhaps that young couple will find themselves in their own Enyaq on the strength of my recommendation. I should charge commission…
