Safest used cars 2017
The safest used cars in Britain for 2017 have been revealed. But which has taken the number one spot? We count down the top ten...
Another remarkably sharp MPV to drive, the Volkswagen Golf SV may only boast five seats, but those five passengers get masses of space and a usefully large boot to stow their luggage. It’s classy inside, too, and with this high a ranking in the Safe Used Car Awards, it should look after you and your passengers should anything go wrong out on the road.

3. Toyota Auris
While the Toyota Auris isn’t the most exciting used car in the world, it does offer an impressive reputation for reliability, along with a good slug of comfort and build quality. It’s great value, too, and what’s more, you can get it with a hybrid powertrain, which is efficient around town – and as this result shows, it’s one of the safest used family cars around.

The Mazda 3’s biggest selling point is that it’s great fun to drive, with sharp handling and responsive engines. However, it also manages to be efficient, reliable and well built – and as this second-place result shows, it’s safer than almost every other used family car you can buy.
