A 7.0in touchscreen comes as standard, with a helpful selection of physical shortcut buttons on either side of the screen and a fairly logical menu layout. However, the screen is slightly laggy in its responsiveness to commands, especially when you’re using the sat-nav (standard on Premium Nav trim), and the graphics are a bit low in resolution compared with the Ibiza’s. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
By opting for FR trim over the cheaper SE, you benefit from an 8.0in touchscreen, as opposed to a dinky 5.0in one, and you also get sat-nav. It’s one of the best systems in the class, with sharp graphics, intuitive menus and rapid responses to inputs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring are standard, as is a DAB radio, Bluetooth and two USB ports. Wireless phone charging can be a useful addition at £160.
