New Audi E-tron vs Jaguar I-Pace
Competition in the electric car market is hotting up with the arrival of Audi’s E-tron luxury SUV. Let’s see if it’s good enough to beat our current favourite, the Jaguar I-Pace...
Infotainment
Audi E-tron
Audi’s latest infotainment system definitely looks the part, with the upper of two touchscreens controlling the sat-nav and other media functions. The only real problem is that touchscreens are more distracting to use while driving than the dial-based interfaces employed by BMW and Mercedes (and indeed by Audi until very recently). A phone app allows you to remotely pre-heat the interior to your liking.
Jaguar I-Pace
The sat-nav, phone and audio functions are all controlled via the 10.0in upper touchscreen, but the layout is a little more complicated than we’d like and the system can sometimes take a while to respond after you’ve pressed the screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring comes as standard, just as it does on the E-tron, and a more powerful stereo is available for £600.
