Not everyone likes change, but with the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel engine cars in the UK fast approaching, sports car brands such as Porsche must adapt and change to stay ahead of the curve.

In fact, Porsche has been one of the frontrunners in electric performance car production since the Taycan arrived in 2020. It may not have a thrilling exhaust sound or a manual gearbox like one of Porsche’s petrol-powered models, but it still delivers an incredible driving experience, brilliant pace, sharp handling and accurate steering. In fact, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is our current Performance Car of the Year.

The next eight years will be crucial for Porsche as it electrifies more of its line-up, with seven new electric models being launched. However, while Jaguar and other brands are ditching petrols and diesels altogether as soon as 2025, Porsche is making the most of combustion power while it still can – and plans to launch three new petrol-powered models before the timer finally runs out in 2030.
