6 June 2023 – Bank holiday rides

With beautiful weather and a never-ending run of bank holidays, my Citroën C5 Aircross has been getting some dreamy holiday miles under its tyres.

Unfortunately, I’m not the only person who fancies a road trip to the coast when the sun is out. So, one weekend, with the rest of the population of Britain, I headed to Brighton.

Driving the C5 Aircross

The journey down the M23 from Croydon is usually painfully slow and unpleasant (especially for a Crystal Palace fan). But in the C5 Aircross it was anything but.

Well, it was still slow. There’s not much Citroen can do about traffic. And I’m still upset that Brighton finished above Palace in the league. But the C5’s whisper-quiet interior, and cosseting motorway ride (the real standout area of the car) meant the 44 miles in two hours were, at least, done in supreme comfort.

Broken EV charger

The only stress I felt was at the end of my journey. I reached a car park chosen beforehand thanks to its plethora of electric chargers and guess what? Of the four, not a single one was working.
