All-new electric car - exclusive reader test team review
Be the first to see the all-new Renault Zoe on Friday 18 October in Feltham, Middlesex...
Such is the attention surrounding Tesla that you'd think it were the most important trailblazer for electric cars.
But thriving in the long shadow of the Model S has always been the Renault Zoe, a practical, easy-to-drive electric small hatchback with a long range and a much lower price. It's so good, in fact, that we've just named it our Used Electric Car of the Year for 2020.
And now things have only got better, as there's an all-new, second-generation Zoe that promises more appealing styling, a much plusher interior, new technology, more power and a 21% improvement in range. So, official range now stands at 245 miles – a full 77 more than the more expensive Nissan Leaf. Indeed, the new Zoe can be yours for just £18,670.
A full charge at home from a dedicated wallbox takes nine hours, while 50kW public rapid charging is now possible, adding 90 miles of range in just half an hour.
Inside, there's more storage space, plusher (and 100% recycled) materials, a fully configurable 10.0in digital instrument display and a new 9.3in infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It's little wonder, then, that our first drive resulted in a four-star rating; you can read the full review here.
Would you like to hear about the new Zoe, or to find out about electric car ownership in general? If so, come along to our exclusive preview event, in which a small group of What Car? readers will be able to examine the car and ask any questions to a team of experts from Renault.
