The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the equivalent of the Carolina Reaper chilli pepper – because it’s the hottest 911 you can buy. In fact, it's the lightest, most powerful and most aerodynamically focused GT3 yet.

Under the bonnet of Porsche’s new sports car you'll find an updated version of the 4.0-litre engine used in the Porsche 911 GT3. However, in the GT3 RS, power has been boosted from 503bhp to 518bhp.

With a body built using the latest lightweight materials, the GT3 RS can launch itself from 0-62mph in as little as 3.2sec – quicker than the rival Aston Martin V12 Vantage. And if that wasn’t fast enough, it can also zoom up to a top speed of 184mph.

The 911 GT3 RS looks even meaner than its GT3 sibling, with a new front splitter and a two-part wing to help it stick to the road. A new drag reduction system (DRS) allows the driver to flatten the rear wing to increase the car’s performance at high speeds, while an airbrake helps create aerodynamic drag to slow the car when needed.

The racing car inspiration continues inside, with black leather, Race-Tex (a high-quality microfibre) and carbon fibre completing the interior’s sporting look. What’s more, full bucket seats are fitted as standard, and should do a good job of holding you in place through fast corners, whether you’re on the road or the racetrack.

As with other 911s, two 7.0in screens make up the driver’s display and infotainment system in the GT3 RS, with the former able to minimise the range of information so only the most important figures are in front of you. Rotary controls and buttons for the driver assistance systems are placed on the steering wheel for ease of use.

Pricing for the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will start from £178,500, and that’s substantially more than the Aston Martin V12 Vantage which starts from £133,920. It is, however, more closely aligned with the Lamborghini Huracan Evo, which starts from £170,598.
