* New Corvette Stingray unveiled * Most powerful Corvette yet, with 6.2-litre engine * 0-60mph in under four seconds...
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been revealed, ahead of its debut at the Detroit motor show.
The Corvette Stingray is the seventh generation of the iconic American sports car and is powered by a 450bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine.
It comes with a seven-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a six-speed auto is an option. The car has five settings Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track which can be changed to suit varying driving conditions.
Full performance figures have yet to be revealed, but the coupe is expected to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than four seconds.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray has a cylinder-management system where four of the eight cylinders are switched off when the car is cruising.
Extensive use of aluminium and carbonfibre help the car achieve average fuel economy of around 31 mpg.
The leather interior comes with aluminium and carbonfibre trim and two eight-inch infotainment screens.
The Corvette Stingray goes on sale in the USA in the autumn. Chevrolet said right-hand drive versions of the Corvette could be made, but it hasn't said if the car will be imported to the UK.
