What should I look for in a used Dacia Sandero hatchback?

When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.

On the whole, the Sandero is a sensible small car and, being rather new, should be in good order. That said, it’s worth checking the interior for signs of wear and tear, and the alloys for kerb damage.

Is a used Dacia Sandero hatchback reliable?

Although the current Dacia Sandero was absent from our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey, it should be a reliable car, based on the Dacia brand placing 11th out of 32 manufacturers – its overall reliability score was better than Ford and Mazdas, at 93.1%.

The previous-gen Dacia Sandero did appear in the survey, too, and it proved reliable. Its 96.8% rating puts it above the Ford Fiesta and Seat Ibiza.

Used Dacia Sandero: owners' reliability data

As part of our 2023 Reliability Survey, What Car? readers said the Dacia Sanderos from 2021-present offer a mixed bag regarding reliability and dealer service. Several owners have reported persistent issues with warning lights, particularly those related to the engine management system. These problems often necessitated repeated visits to the dealership, causing frustration among owners. While some readers found their local dealerships to be efficient and helpful in addressing these issues, others experienced delays and a lack of communication, leading to dissatisfaction.
